With the recent delivery of a Helmsman Trawlers 38E to its new owners in British Columbia, Helmsman Trawlers has introduced a new optional feature — a wide-opening transom. This is not a new concept — the appeal of a transom that opens to promote greater engagement with the natural environment is reflected in designs offered by a number of yacht and trawler manufacturers, though these are notably of light or elaborate construction (or both). Helmsman Trawlers has been, as always, cautious about a direction that could compromise structural integrity or reliable functionality and has resisted this trend. But through a collaborative design effort with these customers, and with an extraordinarily sturdy solution from the Helmsman Trawlers yard, a satisfying and rugged outcome was achieved.
Now available as an option on Helmsman Trawlers 37 Sedan, 38E Pilothouse, and 43E Pilothouse models. Inquire for more information.
